Chapter Texas - Lockhart

User Bio I was raised on a small swine farm in South Texas but currently my family are now raising Longhorn cattle, since the ag exemption has gone up on the number of boars and sows were allowed to have depending on the amount of acreage. I still live on my parents' land and my dad is trying to start raising bees, although it is tough with the drought and heat. But once the bees are a fully functioning hive, I want to start making beeswax products like soaps, candles, polisher, etc. and infuse some of the products with grass fed tallow. I am a student at Texas State University and have been in college for the past 8 years. I am majoring in Agriculture Science to pursue my Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree. I am currently President of the Collegiate FFA chapter at Texas State University for the school year 2023 - 2024. The career I want to pursue with my degree is to become an Ag County Extension Agent, either an agriculture or 4-H development agent, because I have realized that not everyone is as educated as I am when it comes to certain areas in agriculture. I want to further educate others about recent and future advancements in agriculture and how it is more than just plowing a field of crops or raising animals. Ignorance and arrogance are a bad combination and when it comes to someone who thinks they know everything about agriculture but did little to no research are learning from others who are the same way, it really sets me on fire! I would love to have a job that lets me educate from children to adults about what it really means to live, breathe, and function in the Ag Industry! And being an extension agent, I think is the sure way to go!
