User Bio Rachel Buford Black is a fifth-generation farmer and rancher from northwest Oklahoma and a healthcare professional dedicated to improving the well-being of rural communities. Raised on her family’s cattle operation, Rachel has experienced firsthand the realities of agricultural cycles. Those experiences shaped her understanding of the resilience, adaptability, and long-term thinking required to work in agriculture. Today, Rachel brings those same lessons from the pasture into conversations about rural health and leadership. She advocates for mental health and whole-person wellness in rural communities, believing that the same attention we give our livestock, nutrition, rest, and prevention. Through her platform Farm Girl Walk and her speaking engagements, Rachel encourages honest conversations about self-care in agriculture, the realities of working closely with family, and the legacy rural families are building for the next generation. She believes resilience grows from simple, consistent habits and strong community connections. Rachel holds a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration and a Master of Public Health. By blending healthcare expertise with lived agricultural experience, she brings a practical and relatable voice to conversations about rural health, resilience, and the future of rural communities.
