Chapter Texas - Fort Worth

User Bio I was diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in 2018. At the time of my diagnosis, I was faced with an important and time-sensitive decision to pursue fertility preservation before beginning treatment. For me, that meant undergoing egg retrieval and storage, a process that is not covered by insurance despite infertility being a direct side effect of many cancer treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation, and surgical procedures. I was incredibly fortunate to have the support of my family, which allowed me to move forward with preservation before starting treatment. Through my experience, I became aware of the difficult reality that many young women are forced to forgo fertility preservation simply because of the cost. That realization ultimately led me to start my nonprofit, Kate’s Cause, which is dedicated to helping provide funding for young women facing the same decisions I once did. Outside of that work, I am an agricultural science teacher and have been involved in the equine industry from a young age, specifically running barrels. Horses and agriculture have always been a central part of my life, and I’m passionate about staying connected to that community.
